Free New Milk Movies

Monday, February 8th, 2010

One movie that has been awarded with esteemed awards and is worth a watch is ‘Milk’. Unlike the meaning suggested by the title of the movie, this flick is about a man named Harvey Milk. He was the first gay guy in United States to be voted as a public officer in San Francisco, California. Harvey Milk proved its distinctness by being among the first three gay persons in all of the United States to go for such a thing.

This second movie on Harvey Milk and follows the storyline of its previous version. The previous version of the movie was released way back in November 1984 with the title ‘The Times of Harvey Milk’. This movie made its way to Oscars and won an Oscar for the Best Documentary Film. People do tend to compare the revised version with the original one, however, they couldn’t make out much of a difference quality wise. The 2008 version and got nominated for 8 categories at the Academy Awards and won Oscars with the titles of Best Actor in a Leading Role and Best Original Screenplay. Best Actor in a Leading Role was awarded to Sean Penn for his excellent performance in the role of Harvey Milk. Best Original Screenplay was awarded to Dustin Lance Black.

The filming for Milk was also as authentic as it gets with the crew moving down to San Francisco’s Castro Street and even the camera shop that Milk once owned – Castro Camera. The movie captures Milk’s life from the age of 40 right up to his assassination. It starts with him in New York from where he moves to San Francisco with his lover Scott Smith refusing to stay hiding in his closet for the rest of his life.

He makes a fresh start by opening a camera shop on Castro Street that soon becomes the meeting place for the gay members of the San Franciscan community. Milk begins to focus on the issue of gay rights and the lack of it which is followed by a move to make a foray into the world of politics to be better able to champion the gay cause. Milk is met with many failures before he is successfully voted as a supervisor. Then begins his struggle to espouse the gay cause and get people to see the injustice being meted out to gays for being who they were. This process leads him to take on both Anita Bryant as well as a colleague by the name of Dan White who also happens to be elected at the same time as Milk.

White (played by Josh Brolin) represents the conservatives and is constantly “out-voted” by Milk and other supervisors who are pro growth. Dan White’s increasing frustrations on both personal and professional fronts lead to the chilling end of the movie. Yes, the story of Harvey Milk is interesting and moving, allowing audiences of all sorts to enjoy it with equal interest. 2012 Free Movies

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

One of the biggest blockbuster movies of the year 2009 was “2012″ directed by Roland Emmerich of “The Independence Day” fame. This is an epic disaster/adventure movie which is based on global cataclysm i.e. natural disasters. The story takes its root from the predictions in the Mesoamerican Long Count Calendar and the Mayan calendar which states that the world will be destroyed completely by the year 2012 due to certain climatic changes. You can watch 2012 online free at your home with a good internet connection.

Guys wait! I know most of you would b raring to watch 2012 online free. But before that, let me tell you some interesting facts about the storyline. Roland Emmerich and Harald Kloser (co-writer) found the predictions in the Mesoamerican Long Count Calendar quite believable and decided to make a movie out of it. The prediction was simple; the calendar ends on December 21 or 23, 2012 after running for 5125 years and this will ring in the end of world as well.

If you guys think that the predictions are not quite as believable as Mr. Roland Emmerich thought then let me tell you about the Mayan Calendar. The Mayan Calendar is a distinct calendar which was used by the Maya Civilization in the Guatemala and this calendar too points to the fact that world will be destroyed by 2012 due to climatic disasters. Also the interesting fact to be noted is that Nostradamus, the French seer whose predictions were mostly accurate also predicted that world will be a dreadful place by the year 2012 due to cataclysmic events.

I am sure most of you would now be finding this topic amusing yet unwilling to accept. Well, I am not here to make you people believe this factoid which might turn up as a complete dud. Who knows? Let’s face it to know the truth. But as of now let me tell you more about the 2012 movie which is simply stunning with excellent visual graphics depicting catastrophic events like the earthquake, Tsunami, volcanic eruptions etc in a realistic manner. The cinematography has to be commended.

Let us come to the crew of this epic adventure movie. The movie is directed by Roland Emmerich as told earlier. The story was written by Roland Emmerich along with Harald Kloser. John Cussack and Amanda Peet don the major roles in the movie along with Chiwetel Ejiofor. The other supporting actors in the movie are Oliver Patt, Thandi Newton, Jimi Mistry and many eminent actors. The music is scored by Harald Kloser and Thomas Wander. Dean Semler is the cinematographer of this movie.

I have explained the things about 2012 movie and I am sorry that I cannot tell you the plot because if I do, then the thrill in watching this movie is reduced considerably. So what are you guys waiting for? Go and watch 2012 online free as I do not want to waste time in talking. Enjoy this movie from your PC with snacks and a cup of coffee though I would prefer watching this epic movie in theatres.

Now you can Watch 2012 over at Free Movie and enjoy wonderful movies and more.

E-Book Readers – A Brand New Market Segment

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Electronic book readers have been available for quite some time now. The Franklin eBookman is generally considered to have been the first and launched in 1999, over a decade ago. Other readers slowly appeared – the Sony PRS launched in 2006 and the first Amazon Kindle hit the streets in November of 2007.

2009 was however, the year that e-book readers seemed to really catch the public imagination. A great deal of the credit for this must go to Amazon. The Kindle 2.0 launch in February, rapidly followed by the launch of the large format Kindle DX in June created a real buzz around e-book readers and established them as the “must have” gadget of the year. Very rapidly, the Kindle became Amazon’s best selling product. Over the 2009 festive period it became Amazon’s “most gifted” product ever. On Christmas day, Amazon sold more Kindle books than they did hardbacks and paperbacks combined. Both Barnes and Noble and Sony had launched new readers in advance of the 2009 Xmas rush – but concerns over delivery combined with the fact that the Kindle was already so well recognised meant that Amazon’s dominance continued.

There is no shortage of e-book readers to choose from right now. There is a long, and impressive list, of manufacturers who now have their readers on the market, or who are developing them for release in the very near future. Industry analysts are anticipating that 2010 will be a big year for e-book readers and the level of sales is expected to increase.

It is effectively a brand new market sector which didn’t exist, at least not in any meaningful way, until very recently. Apart from the companies who manufacture e-book readers, there are implications for publishers, educational institutions, independent suppliers and of course, the reading public.

The sudden appearance of this brand new market has been great news for manufacturers such as M-Edge who produce a range of accessories – chargers, reading lights, covers, etc. – for the Kindle. Other accessory suppliers are also making hay while the sun shines. Right now, most of the accessories on offer are for the Kindle – but other readers will emerge and they will almost certainly be catered for in a similar manner.

The e-book reader market is, even now, still in its infancy. It is developing and expanding at an astonishing rate. Up to now, Amazon has been a strong influence in the development of the market and currently claims a 60% slice of the e-book reader market in the U.S. In 2010, their dominance will be challenged – as will the second position currently held by Sony with a smaller, but nonetheless very respectable, 35% market share. This e-book reader gold rush still affords plenty of opportunities for companies with the innovative skills and vision to take advantage and establish themselves now whilst the market is in a period of rapid growth.

E-Book Readers – Changing Both Publishing And Reading

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

2009 was the year that e-book readers became hot news. Amazon released both the Kindle 2.0 and the Kindle DX, which created quite a bit of publicity for e-book readers in general and the Kindle reader in particular. Companies like Sony and Barnes and Noble responded with their own readers – the Daily Edition and The Nook – whilst others, such as Apple and Microsoft worked hard to develop their own offerings for release in the near future.

Since e-book readers are consumer electronics devices – and relatively new ones at that – it’s easy to become swept away in the analysis of the technical specification of the various individual readers. The Kindle can download books wirelessly with no need for a broadband connection, a Wi-Fi hotspot or a computer of any kind. Barnes and Noble’s Nook has a color screen, the Daily Edition reader from Sony lets you borrow books from participating libraries – and so on.

However, it may be worth considering that e-book readers may very possibly be the biggest thing to happen to reading – and publishing – since the invention of the printing press by Gutenberg in 1440. The invention of the printing press allowed books to be mass produced on paper instead of parchment or vellum. It reduced the cost of books and, quite literally, put them in the hands of the common man.

There have been very few changes in the way that we read books since then. Of course, there have been advances in printing technology, computers and word processing have made the already existing process more efficient. Nevertheless, the end result has been pretty consistent – we read books which consist of paper bound between retaining covers with text printed upon it.

Publishers have been operating within certain confines as a result of the constant nature of their end product for centuries. They have produced a physical product, with print run costs and delivery fees associated with it.

The key thing to note about e-book readers is that they do not simply represent a more efficient way of carrying out the same process – they change all the rules, for publishers and readers alike. No physical product means that fewer materials are consumed – delivery charges are also very much reduced.

What this means is that not only do e-books cost less to publish and deliver, but they are – even when taking the materials used in the production of the e-book reader devices into account – less harmful to the environment.

It also means that publishers have more options available to them in order to market both books and authors. For example, if a publisher wants to highlight a particular author, then they can offer a selection of their titles at very low prices – or completely free – for a short period of time. Another increasingly common tactic is to offer the first title in a series free in the hope that the reader will buy subsequent titles or possibly other books by the same author. Whilst not completely impossible, this would be a much riskier and more costly undertaking using a traditional print run.

On the Amazon website there are a large number of free Kindle books on offer. Other Kindle books on the site generally have the first chapter available as a free download. Prospective readers can try before they buy. This may well encourage readers to experiment a little and try new authors that they might otherwise have overlooked.

So, whilst the current focus on the high tech hardware is easy to understand, it will be the increased marketing opportunities and the increased ease of access for readers that will change the way that we read books in the long term.
